The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation in collaboration with the Water Development Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment present the series of concerts dedicated to World Water Day.

The 22nd March has been designated by the UN as the World Water Day, with this year’s theme being “Leaving No One Behind (Human Rights and Refugees)” whilst March is also the international month of the Francophonie. Water is the overall theme of the concert, which begins with the eponymous Handel suite first heard on barges on the River Thames in 1717, and features, as a centerpiece, contemporary Chinese composer Tan Dun’s “Water Concerto”.

F. Handel: Water Music, HWV 348-350
Dun: Water concerto for water percussion and orchestra
Debussy: La Mer: Three symphonic sketches for orchestra, L. 109 [Cyprus premiere]

Soloist: Natasa Hadjiandreou (percussion)
